Tomorrow I will be accompanying my yaya (nanny) to the hospital for removal of cataract. It is her first time to have an operation. She is putting up a brave front but I know deep inside that she is scared. I keep reassuring her that everything will be fine. My husband and I will be there with her to give her moral support. Everyone in the family is also praying for her.
A few days rest and I feel a whole lot better. The problem is my voice. It’s still hoarse. I stopped drinking anything cold since the onset of my cough because it hurts my throat. I hope my voice will be back to normal soon.
I value the importance of good health. Yesterday my hubby, son and I had our respective flu shots. It feels good to know that my family is protected from the threat of common flu.

With the swine flu cases escalating and people being afraid to do the things they usually do, what precautions do you do to protect yourself and your family?
The H1N1 virus is becoming more and more alarming. We try our best to avoid overly crowded places. I always bring alcohol and baby wipes with me. My son’s bag also has alcohol, baby wipes and small liquid soap. Frequent washing of hands has always been an old habit so nothing has changed in that aspect.
Sometimes people close to us find themselves lost in the road of life. It’s easy to judge them and simply look away but if we really care for them, we should learn to give them another chance. There are rehabilitation centers that are dedicated in helping people find their way back to normal and healthy living.
I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that cancer is the disease that I dread most. Cancer is sometimes referred to as the Big C. Cancer brings suffering not only to the patient but also to the people close to that person.
Cancer is sometimes hereditary, however, there are some types of cancer brought about by exposure to dangerous substances. Over exposure to asbestos, for example, is known to cause the development of mesothelioma and lung cancer. Mesothelioma lawyers are dedicated to help mesothelioma victims recover from asbestos manufacturers.

With a long list of women’s health concerns, what is it that you dread to hear the doctor say to you?
Q: With a long list of women’s health conerns, what is it that you dreadto hear the doctor say to you?
I hope and pray that I will be spared from any form of cancer. It’s a terrible disease that can bring both physical and emotional pain. The available procedures to fight cancer are expensive and often do not give assurance of full recovery. Chemotherapy for example is a known cure to combat cancer cells, however, this procedure also attacks healthy cell which leads to many negative side effects.

Q: What are you looking forward to in 2009?
There are many negative visions about 2009 but I refuse to accept them. I’m still hopeful for a great year for me and my family.
Yohan is finishing Kindergarten this year and he will be Prep next school year. Time flies so fast. I just want to cherish my moments with him. I’m sure there will come a time when I won’t be his favorite playmate anymore so for now I relish our play time together.
I’m excited about summer vacation. I would love to go somewhere new this time with the family. There are so many beautiful places in the country that we have yet to visit.
I’ve gained SO much weight last year. I want to have a healthier lifestyle this year. More exercise and more healthy food intake.
Sometimes our job requires us to do things that can have significant effects on our health. Take for instance jobs that require a lot of walking on hard surfaces while wearing shoes with little or no arch support. The constant walking without the right kind of shoes can lead to Plantar Fasciitis.
Don’t worry, there is a way to alleviate the pain caused by Plantar Fasciitis. You can wear a specialized splint that gently flexes your foot to relieve chronic heel pain. You can wear the splint at night to help you sleep better and relieve morning heel pain.
A person’s health depends on one’s lifestyle. Health is a reflection of how we take care of our bodies and how we live our lives. Some people take health for granted by keeping an unhealthy lifestyle. Too much smoking and drinking can have great consequences to the body. Eating unhealthy foods like junk food, oily and with high cholesterol content can lead to health issues.
We should prioritize our health. They say “health is wealth,” and I agree. A person may be financially rich and powerful but there are times when no amount of money or power can bring back a person’s good health. We should try our best to maintain good health through healthy eating, regular exercise and keeping a good lifestyle. It is also vital to take proper nutritional supplements. Sometimes the food we eat don’t contain enough nutritional benefits that we need each day. Taking vitamins and other nutritional supplements can greatly benefit the body. It can improve stamina and immune system.
Make the most of your life by taking a positive role in taking care of your health. Don’t make the mistake of taking health for granted. It’s about time that you put health on top of your list of priorities.
