An Afternoon in Nuvali

I went to Nuvali Sta. Rosa with my family yesterday.  It was an opportunity to celebrate because my husband recently graduated with distinction in Culinary school and my son just finished his final exams.

It was a nice, sunny Friday afternoon. The first thing we did was feed the koi in the man-made pond. Yohan had so much fun feeding the koi.  We also had a short boat ride around the lake. Then we stopped for some delicious snacks at Conti’s.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Today Yohan handed out these cute pens to his classmates and preschool teachers as advance Valentine’s Day gifts. He gave Mickey Mouse pens to the boys and Disney Princess to the girls. I placed cute Hearts Day tags with my son’s name.  Yohan told me how much his classmates and teachers appreciated his gifts.

Preschool Camping

Yesterday was our son’s first camping. Hubby and I drove him to the camp site. I had a short talk with his teachers before leaving him there. I felt at ease knowing that all the preschool teachers were there to assist the kids. Hubby and I kissed our son and told him that we love him before going. I had mixed emotions about leaving the camp site but I’m hopeful that it will be an enriching experience for him. Today I’m very excited because we’ll pick him up from the camp site in a few hours. I can’t wait to kiss and hug him again.

School Anniversary

My son’s school celebrated their 25th year Anniversary. There was a big school presentation last Sunday where all the kids in different levels participated. There were dance and song numbers. My son wore an angel costume for the presentation of the preschool students. It was a delight to see him sing and dance on stage with his classmates.

My son’s school announced that there will be no classes on October 30, 2009, Friday to give teachers and students a chance to prepare for All Souls Day and All Saints Day.  Classes will resume on November 3. 2009, Tuesday. It’s a long weekend for us.

DIY Halloween Card

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Yesterday I helped my son make Halloween cards for his teachers. DIY Halloween cards are easy and fun to do.  They are also inexpensive compared to ready made ones. You just need a little bit of imagination to make your cards interesting.

We simply used bond paper, art paper, glue, scissors and colored pens.  Yohan thought of the theme and I helped him cut out the figures.  I helped him cut out a full moon using yellow art paper, black bats and orange pumpkins.  We used black pentel pen to add some details. Yohan had fun gluing the figures on bond paper (folded into half). We made several cards with the same design.  He wrote short Halloween greetings on each card for his teachers.

Treat After Exams

Filed under: Education, Movies, Yohan's Corner — rachel @ 10:38 pm

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usToday is the last day of my son’s 2nd quarterly exams. I admire how patient and eager he was during our review time. I tried to make our review time interesting and fun by using colorful visual aids such as drawings and flash cards.

When he got back from school earlier, hubby and I surprised him with a movie treat at home. We bought a DVD of Ice Age 3. We were able to watch it at the movie theater before but it was nice to be able to watch it again in the comforts of our home.  It was a perfect bonding moment because hubby is on leave from work.

Fun School Day

My son and his classmates enjoyed various school activities yesterday. They started with picture frame designing followed by dish gardening. The last activity was swimming. When I picked him up from school, he proudly showed me the frame he made and his potted plant. It’s great that my son’s school allows the students to take a break from regular classes and have fun. Activities like those enhances creativity and camaraderie.

Book Sale

I went to National Bookstore earlier this afternoon to check out the ongoing book sale. I’m very happy because I was able to buy several books for my son at 70% discount. I like buying books for my son because it nurtures his love for reading.

Yohan is Now Six

Yohan celebrated his sixth birthday last Saturday. We had a small celebration for the family at home. Hubby prepared Japanese food for dinner and he also cooked spaghetti as a symbol for long life.  The highlight of the evening was the game we prepared for the family. The name of the game was “How well do you know Yohan?”.   Hubby and I prepared some questions about Yohan and some small prizes.  Yohan acted as the “game master” by reading the questions and giving out the prizes. Everyone had a terrific time.

Earlier today, Yohan had another celebration. He had a post birthday celebration in school. We brought food, cake and loot bags for Yohan’s teachers and classmates. It was a fun day for all.
