Parent-Child Classes

We are committed to allow children to be themselves as they are and to have fun while they learn. We do not demand that children “be the best”, but we do expect them to try their best. We want children to feel secure taking risks, trying hard and making mistakes. Our philosophy is to treat children with dignity and respect, to build their confidence and self esteem and to help them grow as individuals. Every da, every class. That’s “The Little Gym Way”.

- The Little Gym

When my son was one year old, we enrolled him at The Little Gym in Alabang. Yohan attended several Parent-Child Motor Development Programs until he was three years old. My husband and I would take turns accompanying Yohan inside the gym. We enjoyed the fun development and rhythmic activities. There were also group games, tumbling, movement exploration, songs, ball play and parachute activities.

Yohan only stopped attending Little Gym classes when we enrolled him in Nursery in Nazareht School near our area. Alabang is too far from us so it was too impractical to enroll him in the The Little Gym Pre-School Program, also called Terrific Tots.

My husband and I plan to enroll him again at the gym when we can come up with a good schedule to balance Yohan’s school and extra curricular activities.

Kid Friendly Cable Channels

Last week I was surprised that we have new cable channels ~ Disney channel and Disney Playhouse channel. Our cable used to only have Cartoon Network. There are many good shows on Cartoon Network but there are several cartoon programs that I don’t think are suitable for my four year old soon.  I’m glad that there are two new kid friendly channels that my son can watch. I like the Disney Playhouse channel because all of its programs are good for children especially younger ones. The programs are educational as well as entertaining.

Decorating the Bathroom for Potty Training

Filed under: Info Corner, Raising Kids — Tags: , — rachel @ 1:42 am

When we started potty training our son, we decided to decorate the bathroom to make him comfortable with the surroundings. We thought that if the bathroom was visually appealing to him, he would be motivated to go inside.  My husband and I decorated the bathroom downstairs with all sorts of cute ducks.  We bought nice bathroom accessories with duck design like shower curtains, different toilet rugs, toilet cover and hand towel holder.  I also bought a rubber ducky and placed it on the bathroom counter top. My husband and I were so happy when all our efforts turned out to be a success because we were able to potty train our son in a short period of time.

Potty training is a great milestone for a child. I was visiting a blog friend earlier and read how happy she is that she has successfully potty trained her daughter.  I read that potty training for girls can be quite different when it comes to boys. I understand that proper potty training hygiene is important for both boys and girls but I learned that special attention are given to girls to avoid any problems with infection.
