Good Luck Charms
When Chinese New Year is near, I see a lot of good luck charms being sold at the market. Colorful trinkets, crystals, images of auspicious figures and other good luck charms become highly sought after.
An example of a good luck charm is the wealth bowl. We bought one in time for last year’s Chinese New Year. The Chinese believe that the wealth bowl attracts good luck and wealth to the home. We put 8 coins, grains of rice, chocolates and garlic inside. The coins and grains of rice symbolize prosperity, chocolates symbolize sweet and harmonious relationship while garlic is believed to drive away bad spirits and negative energies. We continued to prepare awealth bowl for the Year of Rat.

I find nothing wrong in buying good luck charms as long as you don’t forget that blessings also come through honest and healthy living. Never rely on good luck alone. Put God first, work hard, be honest and kind to others. Remember that what you reap is what you sow.
