Sunflower Dinner Set

Filed under: Home — Tags: — rachel @ 8:43 am

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I like my mother-in-law’s Corelle sunflower dinnerware.  It is part of her collection. She decided to use this set recently during my FIL’s birthday.

I’ve always been fond of sunflowers. I have several home items with sunflower design too like curtains, table cloth, place mats, plates and a few wall ornaments.

Water Feature For Your Home

Water features are soothing and can be a source of relaxation at home.  The sound of a water fountain can be calming to the senses.  It is also a lovely accent for your home.  There are many kinds of water fountains to choose from. You can have a water fountain at the garden or a small dish water fountain that you can put inside the house.  A koi pond is another beautiful water feature that makes use of pond pumps. The beauty of koi fish is highly appreciated in Asia. They are perfect ornamental fish.

Beauty of Natural Stone

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: , — rachel @ 10:19 pm

I used to work for a company that imported natural stones like granite, marble, travertine, slates, and sandstone to the country. Natural stones are perfect for the house. You can use them for the floor, walls, columns and different kinds of counter tops. I think that granite is perfect for kitchen and bathroom counter tops. There are many beautiful kinds of granite to choose from. There are many shadings and markings that make every slab of granite unique. You can even use them as a stone sink.

Monthly Grocery

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: — rachel @ 10:05 pm

My husband and I just got home from the supermarket. We often buy majority of grocery needs good for one month. Among the staples that we buy monthly are laundry soap, fabric conditioner, bathroom cleaning agents, pet supplies and different kinds of toiletries for the whole family. We also buy a sack of rice, canned goods, instant soup, pasta, condiments, powdered milk, powdered juice, sugar, spices, and my son’s snacks for school. My husband just buys meat, vegetables and fruits on a daily basis so that it won’t occupy too much space inside the refrigerator.

Cash Drawer For Your Home

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: — rachel @ 11:10 am

It’s always wise to have some cash on hand with you all the time. Even though most banks give clients ATM cards for convenient withdrawals, it is still a good idea to keep some money at home for emergency purposes. You can get a durable cash drawer to safely keep some money at home. You can also use it to store other valuables like jewelry. A quality cash drawer gives you the security you need for some valuable items you keep at home.

Spacious Modern Bathroom Amenities

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: — rachel @ 1:20 pm

I have always wanted a spacious bathroom with modern BATHROOM FURNITURE. Bathroom storage cabinets are very functional. You could put spare bathroom towels and extra toiletries inside the cabinet. Adding a nice frame or a potted plant on top of the cabinet would be a lovely touch to the bathroom. I also like a spacious bathroom countertop where I could place my favourite lotion, perfume, cologne, powder and other essentials. A lovely vanity mirror could be a nice accent to the bathroom. Invest on quality and modern stainless faucets and shower heads. Don’t forget to provide good bathroom lightning as well.

One of hubby’s dreams is to have a big kitchen with modern kitchen appliance and kitchen accessories. He would also love to have copper pans and copper sinks. He said that his dream kitchen is spacious with wide counter tops.

Zen Home

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: , — rachel @ 5:04 pm

In this day and age, people often have busy and fast paced lives. When outside world becomes so hectic, it would be a great relief to come home to a cozy and relaxing home. A Zen type of home brings comfort to its dwellers. It becomes a great haven especially after a busy day.

A Zen type of home does not necessarily have to be luxurious. You can have your own Zen without spending too much. You just have to envision a relaxing and soothing environment. Most Zen homes have soothing colors. Natural elements like plants bring life inside the house. Element of water such as a small water fountain can be very soothing inside the home. The sound of the water can help ease stress. Watching the water flow can also be very relaxing. Scented candles can also bring a sense of tranquility to the place. The smell of the candles can be a great aromatherapy. You can add ornaments that like ornamental pots, vases, frames, Zen figurines, lovely Crystal Singing Bowls, and other Zen pieces.

Just make sure that you don’t add too many things inside the house. Choose only several items and keep them minimal. Remember that too many items can cause clutter and interfere with the Zen feeling that you are after. Simplicity itself is a great key towards achieving a Zen home.

Home De-cluttering

Filed under: Home, Info Corner — Tags: , — rachel @ 4:19 pm

It’s summer’s vacation and I have plenty of time on my hands.  I’ve been busy organizing some parts of the house. I realized how de-cluttering can be so rewarding in more ways than one.  I can’t believe how many things I have stored that I actually don’t need. I decided to give most of them away like old pocket books I don’t read anymore and clothes that I’ve outgrown. I’ve thrown away some things I don’t need like unimportant papers, old letters and cards.  I’m also thinking of doing some changes to the living room. I plan to check out some rugs for a refreshing change.

Most bathrooms are often comprised of limited space.  Despite the small area, there are creative ways on how to make the most of the given space.  You can make a bathroom comfortable and stylish at the same time. Focus on adding various bathroom accessories to beautify your bathroom.  Here are some bathroom accessories that you might like to consider:

  • Decorative Frame - Add a touch of art to your bathroom by placing a decorative frame on the wall.
  • Tile Accents - Spice up ordinary tiles with decorative tile accents.
  • Shower Curtain - Choose a shower curtain with a lovely design that compliments the bathroom surroundings.
  • Woven baskets - Use woven baskets to keep extra bath and hand towels or bathroom supplies like shampoo, soap, lotion and more. Woven baskets are functional and at the same time serve as nice accents.
  • Mirror - Place a lovely vanity mirror in your bathroom. Choose from traditional, modern or ornate mirrors.
  • Bathroom Furniture - Add bathroom cabinets for storage of extra bathroom supplies.
  • Pots/Vases - Put potted plants or a vase of flowers on the bathroom counter top.
  • Bathroom Lighting- Choose from a wide variety of bathroom lighting.  There are classic and contemporary ones.
