It’s alarming because I found out over the weekend that one of the houses in the village had a break-in. A laptop and a PSP was stolen from the house. It happened in broad daylight. Apparently, a neighbor saw someone leaving the victim’s house. The incident has been reported to the village officers and authorities. There is an on-going investigation.
As a precautionary measure, I will keep the lights at the front door, lanai and garage open. I will also double check the locks before going up at night. I think it’s best if I put down all the curtains at the living room at night so no prying eyes can see inside.
I’m thinking of getting rid of our old sofa bed in the TV room in exchange of a wider L-shaped sofa. It would be perfect for our home movie dates. I’m looking at some modern sofas and I saw something I like. I found a nice, light brown L-shaped sofa that can be customized according to the specifications I want. I like the idea of a customized sofa so it can fit perfectly in our TV room. I also want some drawers under the sofa where I can put some magazines, favorite DVDs and even the remote controls of the TV and DVD player when not in use.
This coming July is special to me. There are many wonderful occasions this coming July namely my son’s 7th birthday, my wedding anniversary and the 10th anniversary of our home. It’s hard to believe that my husband and I have been married for 10 years already. Time certainly flies. I would like to get a sectional sofa for the living room, new bookshelf for my book collection, glass shelf cases for my son’s toy collection, new bathroom light fixture and perhaps a new dining set. Sometimes a little change can be refreshing.
Summer is already coming to an end. Rainy season is next. In fact, it’s already making its presence felt through rain showers. The afternoon rain is becoming more frequent signaling the changing season. The roof in our laundry area needs repairs. Hubby already made arrangements to have the roofing materials changed before the monsoon season comes in full blast. We’re also having the living room screens changed because I noticed some holes where mosquitoes can pass through. With the rainy season coming, it’s good to make necessary home adjustments to protect the family from the usual health concerns during the wet season of the year.
It is nice to have a little touch of luxury at home. We have a little TV room at home. It also doubles as my son’s play area. My family spend a lot of time there. Last Christmas, I received a 40” Full HD LCD TV from my parents as a Christmas gift. It came with an HD DVD player and surround sound system. The TV room has sliding doors. Sometimes we like to pretend we’re in a movie house by closing the sliding rooms, turning off the lights, switching on the surround sound system and putting on a nice DVD. It would be perfect if we also had our own home theater seating. That would complete the home theater package. Movie time is twice the fun with our favorite chips.
We have a small lanai at the garden. It’s where we often entertain guests. We have tables and some chairs at the lanai where guests can eat, chat and relax. There’s also space for kids to run around and play. I appreciate outdoor décor. There are some outdoor decors at the lanai like hand painted lamps that resemble bird houses, a large vase with decorative bamboo sticks and a musical bird cage decor. There are orchids on the side. It’s a beautiful sight when the orchids are in bloom.
Baking is a fun activity that my family enjoys. I remember a few years ago, I bought hubby a mixer as a Christmas present. That inspired him to try different baking recipes. The first thing he tried was making carrot cake because he knew it’s my favorite. His first attempt was a success. He cut the cake into squares just like how you would cut brownies and he added frosting on top. I loved it so much that I asked him to make some as Christmas presents to friends. They were a hit.
Everyone has a sweet tooth in the family. Baking is fun and eating the baked goodies is even better. I have to admit that all those sweet treats are loaded with calories. All that calorie intake has led to weight game. It won’t hurt to take some best weight loss supplement to get rid of those added pounds. Baked goodies are a delight but it’s also a good idea to limit them for health purposes. I know those yummy desserts are quite hard to resist but a little self discipline is called for.
I like my mother-in-law’s Corelle sunflower dinnerware. It is part of her collection. She decided to use this set recently during my FIL’s birthday.
I’ve always been fond of sunflowers. I have several home items with sunflower design too like curtains, table cloth, place mats, plates and a few wall ornaments.
Water features are soothing and can be a source of relaxation at home. The sound of a water fountain can be calming to the senses. It is also a lovely accent for your home. There are many kinds of water fountains to choose from. You can have a water fountain at the garden or a small dish water fountain that you can put inside the house. A koi pond is another beautiful water feature that makes use of pond pumps. The beauty of koi fish is highly appreciated in Asia. They are perfect ornamental fish.

You can use them for the floor, walls, columns and different kinds of counter tops. I think that granite is perfect for kitchen and bathroom counter tops. There are many beautiful kinds of granite to choose from. There are many shadings and markings that make every slab of granite unique. You can even use them as a stone sink.
