Earth Day is observed every April 22 of the year, however, special consideration is given this year because Earth Day coincides with Good Friday. MalacaƱang officially announced the moving of Earth Day to the nearest Monday, April 25. “The government wants to take the opportunity to draw the attention of the Filipino people to environmental issues affecting our country and the world,” stated by an aide to President Benigno Aquino. It is a sign that the Philippine government fully supports Earth Day activities and at the same time respects the significance of Good Friday to the Filipino people.
