We had an early trick or treat in our village last Saturday. We decorated our house by putting scary masks over our lamp posts and hanging some “ghosts” near the front door. We also put some fake cobwebs for the final touch.
Last year, Yohan was a pirate. This year his Halloween costume is Thomas the Tank Engine.
We prepared 100 loot bags for the kids. There were a lot of left over loot bags which I distributed to Yohan’s classmates and friends in school.
Last October 24 was the feast day of St. Rafael. My in-laws live in the town of San Rafael and every year, they prepare a small feast in honor of their town’s patron saint. It’s their way of saying thank you for the blessings bestowed to them each year.
My mother-in-law is still in the States having a vacation but my brother-in-law made sure there was still a small feast for the family.
I ate a lot that night. It’s so hard to maintain a diet when there is always good food around. I might just need the help of alli, a non-prescription, FDA approved diet pill to lose some much needed weight.

I had a former colleague who I found so annoying beyond reason. Honestly, it’s hard for me to explain but his face and his voice irritated me. We were a so-called ‘team’ because our responsibilities at the office were interconnected. It was ‘agony’ when I had to work overtime with him.

My friend, Siony and I were waiting for the bookstore to open when we saw this lovely moth resting nearby. Please pardon the quality of the picture. I like the moth’s green color. I don’t often see this kind of moth so it was a treat to chance upon one.
All the houses in our village are required to have garages or carports for personal parking purposes. We had some problem with our garage because the tree in front of our home had grown too big. The roots have caused the pavement to arch making it impossible to open the other half of our garage gate. For several weeks, we were forced to park the car on the side street.
We reported the situation to the maintenance team of the village the other day and they responded to the problem immediately. Upon inspection, they found out that the tree has grown too big for the area. It seems the tree has to be cut down or else the growing roots would cause further damage to our home in the near future. We feel sad that the tree has to be cut down but it’s the best solution. The maintenance team scheduled the cutting of the tree two weeks from now. For the mean time, they decided to cut the exposed roots which causde the pavement to rise. They were able to fix the pavement back to normal so we could open our garage gate.
Laughter always manages to uplift the spirit and it also brings joy to people.
