This is a day late but I hope it’s okay.

Thirteen Ways to Relieve Stress:

1. Find a quiet place in the room and light a scented candle. Enjoy the peace and calmness around you.

2. Put a bird feeder outside your window. Relish in watching birds come by.

3. Listen to a favorite CD.

4. Go to the amusement park with family or friends. Have fun on the rides.

5. Invite a close friend over for lunch or dinner. Have a nice time chatting and catching up with each other’s lives.

6. Buy a new book or borrow a nice one from the library.

7. Get a house plant and pamper it.

8. Go shopping and buy something nice that you’ve always wanted.

9. Have a delicious dessert. Enjoy every spoonful.

10. Attend mass. Praying is always a powerful way of releasing the heavy feeling inside.

11. Go to the spa and give yourself some much deserved pampering.

12. Go for a nice walk and bring your camera with you. Taking photos can be great stress reliever.

13. Hug someone you love.

Calmness Before the Storm

Last Wednesday, we were already inside the school service when we heard news that classes were suspended at Yohan’s school. It was raining very hard and the sky cloaked in dark clouds. Good thing we were still inside the village so the driver drove us and the other students back home.

The terrible weather persisted all night and I decided on Thursday morning not to let Yohan go to class anymore. I did not want to risk my little boy getting sick because of the heavy downpour and strong winds. On Thursday evening, I heard the announcement that it was Signal No. 1 in our area because of tropical storm “Mina”. For pre-schoolers such as my son, Signal No. 1 means automatically that they don’t have classes. What does a mom like me do knowing there’s no classes the following day? Blog hopping until the wee hours of the morning, of course. :)

I woke up at 9 a.m. this Friday morning unlike the usual 4 a.m. It felt good to stay in bed longer. Then I noticed something weird. It was very calm outside, not a single drop of rain or sign of strong wind in the air. It’s not that I’m complaining, I just think it’s ironic that a few days ago when the weather seemed so terrible, there was no storm signal but now that there is an announcement, the weather is perfectly fine.

I’m grateful though that we are not experiencing signs of the typhoon but I don’t want to be too sure because they say that there is an eerie calmness just before a big storm. It’s still better to remain at home and hope that Typhoon “Mina” will not hit us and change its course.

My heart goes out to all the people who were affected by the two consecutive storms that hit various parts of the country.

TT :: 13 Sanrio Characters

I love Sanrio characters. When I was a child, I had a large collection of Sanrio things. My favorites were Hello Kitty, My Melody and Little Twin Stars.  Despite the years that have passed, I still admire Sanrio items and I sometimes buy cute things with Sarnio theme.

Here are some of my favorite Sanrio characters.

1. Hello Kitty - Most loved Sanrio character. She has a twin sister named Mimmy. She always says you can never have too many friends.

2. My Melody - A cute and lovable character with a bestfriend mouse named Flat.
3. Little Twin Stars - Kiki and Lala, loves spreading happiness to everyone they meet.

4. Kerropi - He and his friends share his love for baseball and boomerangs. Most often he is seen with his little snail friend Den Den.

5. Minna No Tabo - always bright and cheerful, doesn’t have a dishonest bone in his body. His straightforward and can-do approach to life wins him many friends, although sometimes he can get into a bit of a panic.

6. Pochacco - Sports-minded pup is the best three-on-three basketball player on the playground and a not-so-shabby soccer goalie, too. Pochacco loves carrots but banana ice cream is his all-time favorite!

7. Chococat - He got his name because of his chocolate colored nose.

8. Cinnamorol - His tail is plump and curled up just like a cinnamon roll.

9. Badtz Maru - A cute, mischievous little penguin
10. Deery-Lou - Cheerful fawn, loves playing in the sun and chasing butterflies

11. Pekkle- Good-natured and kindhearted, can most often be found singing or dancing, two things he excels at. He is currently enrolled in a tap dance class.

12. Purin - A good-natured Golden Retriever who dreams of growing up and becoming a big dog, just like his mother and father! He spends most of his time napping or going on walks with his best friend Muffin. He loves to drink milk and eat foods that are nice and soft, like pudding!

13. Charmmy Kitty -Llovely white persian cat given to Hello Kitty by his Papa as a gift. Charmmy Kitty wears a lace-lined ribbon on her left ear, and a necklace which holds the key to Hello Kitty’s jewelry box.

Thursday Thirteen #1

This new blog is a series of firsts and this happens to be my first Thursday Thirteen entry. It’s a coincidence that this is the 13th post on this blog.

I love these small books called Life’s Little Treasure Book by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. One is about Wisdom and the other about Success. I chose to share 13 inspiring thoughts from these books.

1. Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures.
2. Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.
3. Win without boasting.
4. Lose without excuses.
5. Don’t waste time waiting for inspiration. Begin, and inspiration will find you.
6. Commit yourself to constant self-improvement.
7. Be open to new ideas.
8. Don’t make the same mistake twice.
9. Make a habit of reading something inspiring and cheerful just before going to sleep.
10. Commit yourself to quality.
11. Spend your life lifting people up, not putting people down.
12. Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.
13. Become someone’s hero.

Yohan’ First Face Painting

Filed under: Meme, Snapshots — rachel @ 10:32 pm

Yohan was very patient as the artist painted his face during the birthday party of his friend, Cham. I know that for someone so active, keeping still for several minutes must have taken quite some effort. I’m so proud of my lil’ boy for behaving well and being patient.

Here is the finished product … a cool dragon.
